Back to School

So we have arrived at the fading end of the summer, while looking forward to the kids going back to school. As a parent I understand the appeal, but I also remember being a kid and dreading the day when I had to live according to the schedule and rules of society’s institutions (hmmm...maybe less has changed than I thought). And I also remember some in-between years when going back to school was something I eagerly anticipated because it meant that I was going to get to explore the universe beyond what I could see, touch, taste, hear or smell (and yes, I actually do get excited about Math).

I’m feeling all of those emotions again as I look forward over the next six months. I’ve got a lot of trainings coming up! Somehow I have managed to get myself involved in/committed to 3 separate certification courses. Since my day-job has told me to use my holidays now the training time is coming up very rapidly, and I wanted to let you all know when I was going to be away from my regular classes.

It all starts in the first two weeks of September, when I will be with my heart teacher Meghan Currie for the first hundred hours of her advanced training. Because this is an intensive training being held in Indonesia, I will be away for two weeks of classes, from 31 August to 13 September.

There are some other small trainings (most notably with Amy Ippoliti) that I will be attending through the fall, but I expect to be able to be present for my regular classes throughout. The next time I will be away is over the winter holidays, from 5 December 2019 to 15 January 2020. In that training I will be working with Tara Judelle to get certified for her Embodied Flow method of yoga practice. The ideas in Embodied Flow are meant to bring us into deeper contact with the world around us, while at the same time helping us to remain stable when that world shakes. I find myself in complete agreement with them and am looking forward to sharing them with all of you in class.

I have been even more busy through the summer than I ever imagined, with an extra class at Down Dog Studio in Swords as well as presenting a number of workshops to their YTT students, that I have had no time to finish any blogs or podcasts. I do have a couple of articles in process, so I think it likely that the next email will have some more to think about (and maybe bring into your own practice) than this one.

So the what, where & when:

 What  Where  When
Hot Flow Jam  Down Dog (Swords)  Tuesday 1900-2015
Yin  Down Dog (Swords)  Tuesday 2030-2130
Flow & Let Go  Hot Yoga Dublin (Malahide)  Wednesday 2000-2100
Candlelight Yin  Hot Yoga Dublin (Malahide)  Thursday 1930-2030
Flow 3  Hot Yoga Dublin (Malahide)  Tuesday 1900-2015

Just remember, I will be away from 31 Aug to 13 Sep, and from 5 Dec to 15 January. I’m already missing everyone for when I’ll be away but also looking forward to practicing with you through the rest of the autumn.
