The Season of LightsDavid Rush |

Happy Holidays to you all! I finally got the latest blog finished! Can I call it a small Christmas present for you? From what my friends tell me, this autumn has been a manic season for everyone, so I hope you’re also finding a bit of free time at last. This training program I am has (pleasantly) surprised me with very little homework so far, just some readings I would have done anyway (Tara Judelle is also a pretty great writer), giving me a little bit of time to catch up on things like newsletters and music-making.
The music is not a thing that I say much about in the Yoga context, but it has always been very important to me. But the demands of life have slowed down my creativity a bit over the decades, and I only really produce something new every few years now. I’ve got a couple projects which are close, but still not ready for prime-time. With patience, I feel confident they will eventually grow into something beautiful.
Which is pretty much the point of the blog post. It is about getting through the Irish Dark Season, especially the days from November to February where Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) sets in.
I’m not going to say much here, mostly because it’s all in the blog post Embracing the Darkness, which is fairly long itself. Please do read it if you tend to experience winter as a major downer. As many of you know, I am actually avoiding a big part of winter this year with a major training, and won’t be back to teaching in Dublin until 15 January. Keep practicing because it’s only day five and new ideas are already cooking. I’m trying to up my Instagram game while I’m away, so if you want to catch my daily(-ish) updates, you might want to have a look there.
Have a great holiday season! I’m already looking forward to coming back with more Yoga goodness to share.
Namaste
