Fun in the Fast Lane (& in Blackrock, too!)David Rush |
Every now and then the Universe seems to decide that its time to just mess with you, and it seems like my turn came around in July. I’ve been forced into moving house due to the poor maintenance of our (old) house’s electrical system. As you can imagine, this has been quite a disruption, but it also has been relatively easy to re-frame it as an opportunity rather than a problem. I mean it is a problem, and forces me to enact change that I’ve been thinking about for years even though I’m not really prepared. On the other hand, sometimes now is the right time regardless of how ready you are.
Understanding that “ready” is a thought that arises from our perception of time does help. Perfect moments often arrive when we don’t expect, and staying open to them is a big part of our practice. I recently posted a fairly picturesque one to my Instagram, @kumoyuki.yoga, while I was still feeling my way into the new spaces I am living in.
As a result of this, a lot of the things that I had hoped to get started earlier in the summer have been delayed
Handstands!
The BIG news is that I am offering a handstand mini-course through Hot Yoga Dublin & Yoga Next Door. It’s called Rock Your Asana: The Most Fun You Can Have, and I mean it, too! I have loved handstands ever since I was a kid, and they have become a big part of my personal asana practice. For me, popping a handstand (even if it’s just at the wall!) is a lot like having a cup of coffee: I get a burst of energy and focus that helps shake my mind loose from whatever is weighing it down, and I have wanted to share some of htat goodness with everyone for a long time.
One of the things I’ve realized over the years is that handstand is built up out of a lot of small pieces. And, just like a puzzle, after a fair bit of patient work, you reach a point where it all, suddenly, comes together. This six-week course is intended to give you a chance to put in some of that patient work so that you can see a fair bit more of the picture when we reach the end. The course is in-person only, and the spaces are limited to promote individual attention and safety. The details are available on Facebook, as well as my own web site.
Current Classes
Now that The Yoga Hub has opened up, I am teaching four classes each week. Two are at Hot Yoga Dublin & Yoga Next Door; and the other two are with The Yoga Hub, in Swords and in Blackrock (at the Frascati Shopping Center). For those of you who used to practice with me at Clonlea Yoga Studios in Dalkey, this means I am back in the neighborhood - and I’d love to see you again, so please drop in.

Finally
I can feel the pace quickening, even while we, as a society, are still figuring out how to get on with life as the difficulties of Covid-19 start to fade. My practice is always to try and clear out space in my head to keep up with all the changes of life around me.
