This series is designed to allow time to focus on particular aspects of the anatomy. We will be exploring various aspects of the body with refinements to basic asanas as well as more complex asana work than is offered in Strongbodies' drop-in classes. This series will help the practitioner understand how to better focus their attention during an all-level class to get a deeper and more effective work-out.
This workshop will explore the motion of the spine, paying particular attention to the ways that breathing affects it. We will use twists and backbends to re-discover the pure joy of movement from a place of ease.
We will work in developing a sense of personal power through developing the strength and mobility of the shoulders, arms, and hands. The limbs of our upper body are our most versatile tools, and we will energize them with new information and ability.
The hips and pelvis form the base of all posture and movement. The largest and strongest muscles in the body all find their origin in this region and affect the way we walk, sit, stand, stretch, reach, ... and so much more. We will be working gently but deeply into these joints and muscles in order to bring a greater freedom of motion to the entire body.
