Approaching Yule |

Darkness, dying, death, and silence
As the sun stops cold in the southern sky
Heat nearer to thee than me and I yeet
A stone into the sky
Following its own relatively straight line
To loop back again to ground
Far from my feet
And failing to complete its freedom flight
I am not strong enough to break the bonds
Of earth and air and ether
And fire and water
consume the offering of the day
consume the light in the eye
consume the air and sky
Collapse behind the tangled veil to feed the hungry
Darkness, dying, death, and silence
(remembering the space left behind by Clodagh Downing)
